A peace of success
The idea of success pushed onto us by society is really doing us all a disservice.
When we say the word ‘success’, it automatically has connotations of money, status, accolades, popularity and other external markers. It’s almost universal!
But isn’t it peculiar that peace doesn’t even make it onto the list? Happiness isn’t on there, and neither are healthy relationships.
None of the intangible things that really make life worth living make it onto this list.
And the sad thing is that when you subscribe to this limited definition of success and build your entire life around it, you are essentially giving away your power.
By living a life designed to pursue what society dictates, you are outsourcing your own destiny.
You can’t expect to find your own path by using somebody else’s map!
It’s impossible! Especially when you realise that most of the people who purport the societal definition of success are far from fulfilling that definition themselves.
The only way to find the path that is truly meant for you is to first completely detach yourself from society’s definitions and labels. These concepts, such as success and failure, are used to control your mind, your perception and how you behave.
Once you break free from these invisible traps you can begin to re-create your own definitions, ones that are more beneficial to you.
You can begin to define success for yourself. Your definition can include your long-term peace and happiness, something society’s definition fails to consider.
This is how you re-write your story and take your power back.
No one but you should have the power to decide whether you are successful or not, because you are the only person who knows deep down what is most important to you.
Regardless of the vision of success you decide to strive for, never forget to make peace and happiness the main priority.
