Jealous of success?

When we are working to fulfil our vision of success, it can be tempting to compare ourselves to others.

You can easily forget that success is supposed to be a personal journey between you and yourself, not a journey of comparison between you and anybody else.

Comparing yourself to others doesn’t propel you any further along your path, but it does keep you further behind.

It makes you lose sight of your own journey.

It stops you from cultivating your own potential, because all the energy that could have been spent focusing inwards is actually being channelled into envy towards other people who are already focusing on themselves.

The funny thing about jealousy is that most of the time we don’t really know what we’re jealous of.

Sure, we may be jealous that someone else is better than us in a certain way or has more than us, but we’re certainly not jealous of what it took them to get where they are: time, effort, blood, sweat & tears or even the moral decay.

The fact of the matter is: you can never fully know what others have done to get where they are.

So before you wish for the same blessings as the next person, first ask yourself whether you’d also be willing to receive the same bruises as them, because you can’t have one without the other.
