Self-expression: is it worth it?

Self-expression can be one of the most beautiful aspects of our humanity.

And, as with any other element of our humanity, it comes with its own difficulties and challenges.

Whether it be from society’s judgement or making our own comparisons to other people, barriers to self-expression will always exist.

The question is: when these barriers present themselves, are you still willing to express yourself with purity and sincerity?

How I see it is that self-expression is a bold act of self-love, and the greater the barriers you overcome in pursuit of it, the deeper the love for yourself grows.

It can often be easier to allow challenges to deter you from following through, rather than rising above them.

But when we fail to exercise resilience in these moments, we naively buy into this unspoken illusion that everything should be easy and we end up missing out on the opportunity to learn from these experiences.

Sometimes the difficulty we experience during the creative process can actually make us more passionate about what we’re pursuing and other times, it helps you to reconsider and refine how your approach.

Patience and grace are essential when it comes to this, because firstly it allows the results of your creativity to remain pure and untainted by haste and the subsequent chaotic energy.

A positive by-product of being patient with yourself is that it encourages others to also give you the same grace, which can deepen your relationships.

When you look at the big picture, self-expression builds connections between us and our higher selves, as well as between networks of people.

THIS is what can make the world a beautiful place to reside.

So we must remember to always stay true to ourselves and keep expressing ourselves in the purest form no matter what may come.
