The road to success may seem unclear, but there are some things you can do to get closer to it...

1) Embrace the journey 🚴🏿‍♀️

As ironic as it sounds, what keeps most of us away from the success we crave is the fact that we are so focused on particular outcomes, ignoring what it takes to actually get there.

When you embrace the journey, you realise that success is less about the destination and more about the person you become and the things you learn along the way.

2) Don't chase 🤚🏿

There is this quiet expectation many of us hold that our success is determined by what we have externally and that once we have these things, we will finally be happy.

This is what makes us chase better circumstances, more friends, relationships and tangible possessions.

But when you chase something, that implies that it is moving away from you, and anything moving away from you is clearly not for you.

Once you stop conflating success and happiness with external manifestations, you can begin to understand what REAL success and happiness actually look like for you without the unrealistic expectations and work towards it.

3) Be willing to improve 🧗🏿‍♀️

Success is about growth.

Even when we reach a certain level, there is always more to learn. The top of every mountain is the bottom of a new one.

This is not to say that you should chase an impossible idea of success, but your goals should be about improving yourself in a meaningful and sustainable way. And growth is a never-ending journey, just like success. So the more you grow, the closer you are to success.

4) Change your definition of success 📏

The distance between where you are right now and the successful you is solely based on your perspective. It is based on how you define success.

Most of us don't look at ourselves as successful, so our definitions of success are based on the areas in which we lack.

If we lack money, wealth becomes our definition of success. If we are single, marriage becomes our definition of success. If we feel alone, then having more friends becomes the new definition.

But what if you changed the narrative?

The truth is, you are already successful in your own right. You've just been programmed to focus on everything you don't have.

When you focus on gratitude and acknowledging everything you do have, success begins to look a lot closer to home.
