Peace is always within your grasp as long as you are aware of and mitigate anything that threatens it...

1) Your mind 🧠

Peace lives in the mind, but this is where chaos can live as well.

Naturally, this makes your mind a battleground. You have to fight to decide which thoughts will take precedence and which ones will be watered by you.

For an untrained mind and a mind that is under attack, it can be very difficult to find peace and balance in the midst of battle between peace and chaos.

TIP #1 - Train the mind (e.g. meditation, activities to improve focus)
TIP #2 - Remember that every thought didn't require attention

2) Perfection 👌🏿

Perfectionists tend to focus on what is missing and what could be better. While this can be helpful for overall progress, hyperfocusing on minute details can become more of a disruption.

It can do you from making peace with what is and keeps you occupied with everything that isn't.

TIP #3 - Be realistic in your expectations
TIP #4 - Shift your focus to what is good
TIP #5 - Practise gratitude regularly
TIP #6 - Have tangible goals to measure real progress

3) Dopamine addiction 🤪

Addiction to dopamine is real. We may all experience it in varying degrees, and it becomes particularly problematic when it consistently controls our mind and lifestyle.

Chasing highs leads to lower lows, because being at equilibrium no longer feels normal. You're either low trying to chase a high or you're high trying to chase an even higher high.

Life is about striking a balance. Becoming desensitised to pleasure is the easiest way to rob yourself of your own peace.

TIP #7 - Give yourself boundaries
TIP #8 - Practise daily discipline

4) Caring too much ❤️‍🩹

We all have people and things we care about, that's part of what makes life beautiful.

But caring TOO much about so many things (especially things we have no control over), causes our attention to scatter and we get stretched beyond our capacity.

When you're juggling more than we have the capacity for, it is impossible to be at peace.

TIP #9 - Keep things in perspective
TIP #10 - Re-evaluate what is most important in your life
TIP #11 - Learn the art of detachment, learn to let go

5) Complacency 🛌🏿

There is a difference between being comfortably consistent in protecting your peace and being complacent.

Complacency is you on autopilot. On autopilot, you stop being proactive and you forget about keeping systems in place to protect your peace. As such, this makes your peace easily disrupted by people and circumstances, especially when you least expect it.

So be sure not to get too complacent about your peace.

TIP #12 - Implement (and reinforce) daily practices/rules/habits that protect your peace
TIP #13 - Re-evaluate your life regularly, identify anything and anyone that may be a threat to your peace (and take action, of course!)
