Here's a poem to end this month's theme, "Peace". Enjoy!!

POEM - RECLAIMING MY PEACE: They say calm is in the eye of the storm, but the storm is hard to bear
I barely have the time to breathe
How can I focus inwards when life requires so much of me?

It really makes no sense at all
Does anyone care to explain?
They say to take a deep breath in and it'll all just be okay
But when I finally do get time to breathe
All I hear is society
Asking judging constantly
In my ears and at my feet:

Do this now!
Do this then...
I'm stretched and pulled much too thin,
Til there's nothing left to see
No peace of mind
No happiness
And no one left to blame but me,

Cos even though society was always in my ear
The only thing that gave it power was my constant state of fear
Fear of how I'll be perceived
Fear of the unknown
Fearing a different side of me that has always been ignored

Well, that is it! I've had enough!
Get up off my back
If you want me to work with you
Then just cut me some slack
I don't care if it's uncomfortable
I don't care if you lack

If helping you is hurting me then I must focus in on that
It sounds quite harsh, I know it does
But what really can I say?
If I don't do it, no one will and you'll all just look away

Inner peace is important
And happiness is too
The more of us that learn this, the better for me and you

We won't rely so much on others for our own sanity
We'll all just take good care of self
And build stronger communities
