Barriers to Purpose

There are many reasons why people struggle to find their purpose and here are some common barriers to watch out for...

1) Expectations

Bearing the weight of endless expectations from society, family and even ourselves can make pursuing purpose seem like an impossibility.

When we hold ourselves to a standard that doesn't bring out the best in us, we're essentially crippling our own ability to fulfill our role.

2) Trauma

There is no way we can fulfill our purpose if we don't know who we are. And we cannot truly know who we are if we have trauma and pain attached to our personality and identity.

You must get to know who you are, minus the dysfunction and baggage, in order to begin understanding the role you were created to play in this world.

3) Dependence on Validation

Nowadays it has become the norm to live our lives in a performative manner, awaiting the approval or disapproval of others to dictate our next moves.

This stops us from thinking in a unique way, because we're preoccupied with what others will think of us.

When we cast those worries aside and pursue what we're passionate about and what we're good at, we get closer to discovering our purpose.

4) Selfishness

For most of us, our goals revolve around what we can do for ourselves. We set goals around how much money we should make, the holidays we should take and the lives we want to live.

But how often do we stop to think about what we want to give to the world? When do we consider how our gifts can be used for the benefit of others...to make their lives easier...to help them improve their lives?

When we're hyperfocused on ourselves, we miss out on opportunities to be service to the world.

5) Fear

Fear is a powerful emotion that, if left unchallenged, can stop us from exploring our full potential.

When pursuing a different path, you'll have to deal with the great of missing out, fear of being different, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of the unknown etc.

But on the other side of all of this fear is your greatness and your real purpose.
